The Department of Homeland Security and state governments have deemed physical therapy an essential component of health care during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Select Physical Therapy's highly trained staff will design a specialized plan of care that is just right for you. Through experience, advanced clinical training and clear communication with our patients, our therapy team will give you the advantage in recovery. We offer a wide range of orthopedic services, dedicated to treating patients of varying age groups and activity levels:

Orthopedics: Whether you've sustained a mild strain or had a major surgical procedure, our physical therapists will work with you in a goal-oriented program to regain maximal pain free function.

Sports Medicine: We provide sport rehabilitation services for multiple local high schools and universities, both onsite and in our center. The goal of our physical therapists and athletic trainers is to return injured athletes to their optimal performance level in whichever sport they participate.

Industrial: We are focused on returning injured workers back to their place of employment in a timely and safe manner. We will provide highly focused functional rehabilitation programs that ensure ideal return-to-work status. We also provide screening procedures designed to ensure safety in the workplace.

Our Team

Chris Hayes, MSPT, Cert. ART, CDN, TPI CGFI-M2

Chris is a physical therapist and center manager for Select Physical Therapy’s Bloomfield II outpatient physical therapy center. Chris earned a bachelor of physical therapy in 1994 from the University of Connecticut and advanced master's degree in orthopedic physical therapy in 1999 from Quinnipiac University. He has completed numerous continuing education courses and has received advanced certifications in McKenzie method for spinal patients, active release techniques, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, trigger point dry needling and TPI Level II golf fitness medical certification. Chris has had success in treating general orthopaedic and sports medicine injuries, as well as post-surgical patients. He has a special interest in working with golfers and overhead throwing athletes, as well as ACL rehabilitation.

Lynn Borowiec, MSPT

Lynn earned a master’s of physical therapy degree from the University of Connecticut in 2002 and was a member of the women’s tennis team. She has worked in many Select Physical Therapy centers throughout Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and Cape Cod. The last 10 years, she has found a passion in working in the sports medicine realm and has been a part of the sports medicine teams at Trinity College and The University of Hartford. She currently splits her time between the Bloomfield Jolley Dr. location and Avon Old Farms School. Lynn is recognized as a certified Graston technique provider and certified active release technique provider. Lynn enjoys working with athletes and patients of all ages helping them to achieve their goals. She enjoys playing tennis, playing golf, exercising and spending time with her family and friends.

Mark Joao, P.T.

Mark attended Springfield College where he received a bachelor's degree in health science in 2018 and doctorate of physical therapy in 2020. While at Springfield College, Mark was part of the varsity baseball team. During his athletic career, a major knee injury led him to an interest in sports-related injuries and rehabilitation. Mark has had clinical experience and success treating numerous musculoskeletal injuries, postural dysfunctions and neurological conditions. His interests are in musculoskeletal pathologies, sports-specific injuries and rehabilitation along with injury prevention. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He believes in living an active lifestyle and enjoys the outdoors and various sports activities.

Aissa McGuirl, DPT, CSCS

Aissa earned a doctorate in 2017 from the University of Hartford. Aissa is a strength and conditioning specialist and has worked as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. She has been an athlete of many sports which has fueled her passion in health and fitness.

Nicole Lussier, P.T., DPT

Nicole earned a doctorate of physical therapy in 2018 from Quinnipiac University. She has completed dry needling certification and has had great success utilizing that technique in the center. Nicole is a certified yoga and cycle instructor and has taught at various fitness studios in the area. Nicole has achieved success in the treatment of sport-related injuries including spine dysfunction, upper and lower extremity injuries and vestibular rehabilitation. She spends her free time lifting weights at the gym or outdoors in nature.

Megan Mormile, M.S., LAT, ATC

Megan is the head athletic trainer at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, CT. She earned her master's in athletic training from Georgia Southern University in 2017 and is currently working on her doctorate of athletic training from the University of Idaho. Megan is the chair of the Young Professionals Committee for the Connecticut Athletic Trainers’ Association (CATA) and a co-founder of All Things AT, an organization devoted to helping athletic trainers to navigate early steps in their career and elevate clinical practice. Megan’s research interests involve novel treatment and rehabilitation for foot and ankle injury and mindfulness/energy interventions for chronic pain. She lives in Massachusetts with her partner and two dogs, and enjoys being outside, painting and cooking.
