Success Stories

Sylvia Brown

Firefighter Sylvia Brown was the victim of a hit and run in May 2022 that caused her to need surgery and subsequent physical therapy. Eager to resume activities like running and hiking, Sylvia began therapy with Physical Therapist Heather Foley. Ready to help, Heather tailored a workout plan specifically for Sylvia and the skills needed to return to being a firefighter. Together they did exercises that helped Sylvia regain strength, balance, and functional abilities. Heather dedicated time and energy to learning the specific skills that are needed for firefighters to make sure her plan would help Sylvia get back to work. "Even though there's some limitations, I'm happy to have my life back," said Sylvia. "It's been a long haul getting me back to some level of functioning." Thank you for trusting us with your care. We are happy to help patients like Sylvia get back on their feet!

Hon Yi

Machinist Hon Yi was suffering from chronic shoulder pain. For over 13 years, he dealt with it until it got to a point where he couldn't sleep without pain. It also impacted his work. So, he spoke with a surgeon and scheduled a rotator cuff repair. Hon's goal was to get back to work, fishing and sleeping without pain. After surgery, Hon was referred to Select Physical Therapy to work with Occupational Therapist Rachel Allegri to reach those goals. "I had pain and limitations with everything," Hon said. "I [couldn't] wait to start doing everything without pain." Rachel created a custom plan for Hon. He started with pain-free range of motion, basic strengthening and modalities exercises as well as a home exercise program. Being compliant throughout care and working hard, Hon continued to show improvement and progress toward his goals.

Devin Jackson

Police Officer Devin Jackson takes his job seriously. During a call, it became necessary to chase down a suspect. As Devin worked to apprehend the suspect, he injured both shoulders. Unfortunately for him, both shoulders required surgeries with several weeks of physical therapy. Devin's goal was to return to duty and wrestling with his kids. Post-operatively, Devin worked closely with Occupational Therapist, Rachel Allegri, to regain mobility, strength and fine motor skills. His personal and professional goals inspired him to work hard over the long recovery process. Rachel said. "I am happy to hear and share that he is back to playing with his kids and awaiting final clearances to return to duty." And as for Devin, he shared, "It's been great working with Rachel. The whole clinic works to make sure there is lively interaction with patients and each other. They just make coming to therapy so much fun."
