"I am a long-distance competitive marathoner. At age 52, I am trying to make a comeback. In late March, I blew out my left hamstring doing speed work. As a coast-to-coast traveler, my primary sports medicine provider has been in Walnut Creek, California. They have kept me running with every injury imaginable. However, I waited on treating my injury and did not have any time, as I would not be back in that area for a while. Worse yet, I had a race approaching that was meant to honor war veterans. After three visits and a doctor diagnosis, Kim at Select Physical Therapy in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, gave me hope. I found Kim through the Fort Walton "underground" of local athletes. I was humbled by her - a knowledgeable and direct physical therapist. I am 90 percent pain free while sitting, the worst sympton of this injury. Running? Well, I can do some speed work at about 60 percent pain free. Thanks to the care I received from Kim and Select Physical Therapy, I was able to honor my nephew, a 21-year-old Afghan war vet, hero and Purple Heart recipient, and all vets at the race."
