Our Team
Chris Toomey , P.T., CMT
Chris is a physical therapist and certified manual therapist specializing in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation for 28 years in the south Florida area. He specializes in knee, shoulder and ankle sports injuries, post-operative surgical rehabilitation, identifying and modifying biomechanical deficits, geriatric rehabilitation and uses hands-ono therapy in his treatment approach. His experience has allowed him to work with all levels of athletes from youth to professional, weekend warriors and the ageing athlete. Chris helps patients return to an active lifestyle and all levels of athletics by developing individual rehab and exercise programs for orthopedic injuries, post-operative surgical rehabilitation and biomechanical deficits. He is expanding his education and treatment to include vestibular rehabilitation and dry needling. Chris enjoys having patients return to a healthy lifestyle by receiving hands-on care from trained professionals and a treatment program designed specifically to maximize function and promote well-being.
Michael Stanzione, P.T., MPT, COMT
Michael has been a member of Select Physical therapy since 2021. Michael identified his passion for physical therapy while going through the rehabilitation process after tearing a ligament in his knee while playing ice hockey in high school. Michael completed his undergraduate education at the University of Central Florida and doctorate of physical therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Michael is working on certification in manual therapy. He enjoys working in the outpatient setting with a wide variety of patients. Michael was raised in Parkland, Florida and enjoys watching football, playing basketball and pickleball, and going rollerblading with his wife.
Laurie Thurber, O.T., CHT
Laurie is an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, Laurie graduated from the University of Florida in 1991 and obtained certification in hand therapy in 2002. She has been employed by Select since 2017, and worked in a private hand surgeon's practice for 10 years prior. Laurie specializes in all aspects of hand therapy, but particularly enjoys developing creative therapeutic activities to encourage patients to improve their function. She specializes in fabrication of custom orthoses, kinesio taping and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. Laurie's husband and two grown daughters bring her the most joy. She enjoys bike riding in her free time.
Pamela Gaviria, P.T., DPT
Pamela is a physical therapist who has been a member of Select Physical Therapy since 2020. Pamela became interested in physical therapy following her needing physical therapy for her knee while in high school. She graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and health promotion in 2016 and doctorate of physical therapy in 2020. Pamela is working toward certification in manual therapy. She enjoys working in the outpatient setting for post-operative surgical rehabilitation, orthopedic injuries, sports injuries, biomechanical deficits and balance/gait training. Pamela was raised in south Florida and enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs, going to the gym and traveling.
