She specializes in working with patients with hypermobility disorders and chronic pain. Michaela is also a competitive ballroom dancer, with more than 20 years of dance experience in a variety of dance styles. She has a passion for working with dancers and athletes of all ages to enhance their performances and to return them to their sports following injury.

Alexander Tyus, PTA

Alexander has spent the better part of his adult life in health care. Starting out as a registered polysomnographic technologist in 2008, he decided after almost 18 years on nightshift he needed a change.

He went back to the University of St. Francis and, within four years, earned his associate degree, bachelor's degree, PTA license, got married and had his first son. A proud and happy father, he enjoys educating patients on the powerful medicine that is exercise.

All Services Success Stories

Rose Ball

Rose Ball kept getting sidelined from her favorite activities by injury. Her parents eventually moved her from gymnastics to swimming to help cut down on the sprains and strains. They suspected she suffered from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a genetic condition weakening the body's connective tissue. Their concerns were confirmed by a doctor after she reported lingering hip and shoulder pain.

Diagnosis in hand, they still needed to find a way to ease the pain. That's when her mom found us on the EDS Society website, where one of our clinicians is registered as a specialist on the condition.

Rose's family was impressed at how supportive our team was, something they hadn't experienced elsewhere.

The team used dry needling and cupping to help relieve Rose's discomfort. She's doing much better now; she's not taking pain medication and she's more active.

Shelley Anderson

Shelley Anderson is a music therapist, ballroom dancer and foster mom to kittens. When her Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) began to significantly affect her lifestyle, she turned to our center. EDS causes joint hypermobility, allowing joints to move beyond the typical range of motion. Individuals with EDS are at a higher risk for dislocations, joint pain and early-onset arthritis. Our clinician helped support Shelley to a point where she no longer had excruciating rib pain and her ribs stayed in place. She's been able to reach her goals of continuing to dance, foster kittens and succeed in her job as a music therapist, but will require ongoing treatment for EDS. When asked about peaks and turning points in her recovery, Shelley shared, "Honestly, a huge milestone was finding someone who understands my condition."

As Shelley continues to network within the EDS community, she knows exactly where to send them.
