Chad Hemric
There is a phrase commonly used among motorcyclists as a stark reminder to be vigilant: "There are two types of riders: those who have crashed and those who will crash."
While this isn't true in every instance, it was for Chad Hemric, an avid dirt-bike rider and cyclist who twice injured his rotator cuff in falls. Having been through surgery and physical therapy previously, Chad had an idea of what to expect.
With a goal of getting back to dirt-bike racing, he scheduled an appointment for physical therapy. He had positive outcomes from this location previously.
"This was the second physical therapy for the same shoulder," he shared. "So, we worked to gain strength since the rotator cuff isn't functional anymore."
Chad credits his therapist for her exceptional encouragement, both physically and mentally. He received positive instruction, understood the reasoning behind it and felt engaged through variations in the exercises. Each session helped restore his range of motion and strength. He is still on his way to recovery, given the permanency of the injury, but has already registered for his next race.
Jessica Smith
Jessica Smith isn't just a casual runner, she's a marathoner. So, getting back to running after having a baby was a long journey she was willing to undertake.
A natural birth can wreak havoc on the body. Jessica experienced pelvic heaviness, incontinence and bladder prolapse. To reconnect with her core and strength training, Jessica sought care at our center. "I want to be able lift heavey weights and to run without pelvic issues," Jessica shared. "I also want to keep up with my children."
Focusing efforts on Jessica's specific needs, the team customized a program as Jessica was monitored and encouraged.
"I noticed how much stronger I felt and I was able to move around better," she said. "I continued my exercises daily at home and it paid off quickly."
Jessica's goals of marathon training are within sight. Thank you for choosing us on your rehabilitation journey.
Isaiah Fortt
Isaiah Fortt's first experience with physical therapy was a doozy. He faced a lengthy recovery following an ACL injury and a fractured hip.
Although he knew it would be difficult, Isaiah was up to it. He worked with the clinical team to help him regain full range of motion in the hip and knee, balance, stability and coordination. Isaiah admits there were ups and downs throughout the process.
"My injuries were serious and at one point I didn't think I would make it," he shared. "There were times I wanted to quit, but they didn't quit on me."
Isaiah says physical therapy helped him get back to his everyday activities, and he continues to reach milestones and improve physically and mentally.
We are excited about your progress, Isaiah, and wish you continued success in your journey.
Dottie Scott
Dottie had major back surgery several years ago. Unfortunately, her back pain returned, this time, causing her leg discomfort.
Dottie worked with the team of clinicians that tailored a rehabilitation program designed to decrease pain, increase strength and enhance mobility, so that Dottie could get back to doing what she loves.
"I wouldn't be able to do as much walking and exercise as I now do," Dottie shared. "The physical therapy I have been doing has given me back a lot of the strength I had lost."
Though Dottie has worked with other physical therapists, the team's collaboration and knowledge won her over. As she was able to do more and reach her goals, Dottie's pain decreased and her confidence soared.
"I always feel better after my workouts," she said.
We are so happy to hear about your experience, Dottie. Thank you for choosing us on your rehabilitation journey.
